Indian Masala Tea

 

Ingredients

 

Water: 2 cups
Tea bags-3 or 1 tablespoon tea leaves
Milk- 1/4th -1/2 cup
Use one of these:
Cardamom powder- 1/4th tsp OR
Fresh ground ginger- 1/8th tsp or use 1/4th tsp ground ginger powder
Sugar as per taste
 

Method


Pour Water and milk in a small saucepan. Add either the cardamom powder or ginger and bring this to a boil. Reduce heat to low and add tealeaves. Simmer for few minutes( 2-3). Remove from heat and strain tea into a cup.

Add sugar according to taste and enjoy.

If you want to make more cups you need not add more spices, you can add the same amount for 1-3 cups of tea.

Buttermilk, Indian Summer Drink (salted)

Ingredients


Plain Non Fat Yogurt- 1 cup
Chilled Water 2-3 glasses
Ground cumin seeds powder-1 tsp
Fresh mint leaves-1-2 chopped fine optional
Salt as per taste

Method:

 

Whisk yogurt with a fork till smooth. Chop mint leaves finely.
Add rest of the ingredients and whisk again. Pour in glasses and serve with ice cubes.

Lassi (sweet)

Ingredients
 

Plain Non Fat Yogurt- 1 cup
Cold water- 2 cups
Sugar- 2 tablespoon
Ice cubes-3-4
 

Method:


Place all the ingredients into a blender. Blend till it is frothy. Pour into glass and serve right away.

You could make it sugar free by adding artificial sweetener instead of sugar.

Cucumber Tomato Drink

 

Ingredients


Fresh tomato juice: 600 ml
Cucumber (grated): 100 gm
Lime juice: 1tbsp
Sugar: 1 tsp
Black salt: ¼ tsp
Roasted jeera powder: a pinch
Black pepper: a pinch
Salt to taste
 

Method:

 

Blend all the ingredients in a mixer.

Strain and serve chilled.

Watermelon Juice

 

Ingredients

 

Medium size watermelon: 1
Cardamom powder: 1 tsp
Juice of 2-3 lemons
Powdered sugar: to taste

 

Method

 

Cut the watermelon into big pieces. Remove seeds and extract the juice.

Add lemon juice to the watermelon juice.

Add sugar to taste. Mix well and chill. At the time of serving add the cardamom powder and mix well. Serve chilled.

Cucumber Drink

 

Serves: 4

 

Ingredients:

 

Cucumber 1 small 

Low fat yogurt 1 ½ cups

Rock Salt or Sea Salt ½ tsp

Water 2 cups – chilled

Roasted cumin seeds powder ½ tsp

Salt, ½ tsp

 6-8 ice cubes

 

Method:

 

Wash. Peel and grate the cucumber.

Blend the grated cucumber and yogurt together in a mixer for a few seconds. Add all the other ingredients and blend till frothy.

Serve in tall glasses, sprinkled with a pinch of roasted cumin seeds powder and garnished with a wafer thin slice of unpeeled cucumber and a sprig of mint.

Carrot and Coriander Drink

Ingredients:

 

Carrots grated 2 cups

Coriander leaves 2 tablespoons chopped

Lemon Juice ½ tsp

Water 2 cups

Salt as per taste

Ice cubes 8-10

 

Method:

 

In a mixer blend together carrots and water till smooth puree.

Add coriander leaves, lemon juice and salt to taste. Serve over ice cubes.

Ingredients:

 

Tomatoes 1 cup, chopped

Apple ½ cup, chopped

Honey or sugar 1 tsp

4-8 Ice cubes

 

Method:

 

Take all the ingredients in a blender, add 1 cup of water and blend till smooth.

Pour into 2 glasses and serve chilled.
